Dr. Wise started his educational journey at EKU where he received an AS degree in Computer Electronics Cum Laude, stayed for a BS and MS degree in CTE. He later completed a MS at KSU in Cybersecurity and an EdD at Northcentral University in Curriculum and Teaching. This October will be my tenth year at KSU. I am the current Chair of the School of Mathematics and Computer Science as well as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the College of Business, Engineering, and Technology at KSU. My specialties are Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Network Engineering.
At KSU, I have been at the forefront of the curriculum development and implementation for all new CS degree programs, 2+2 domestic and international ventures, Online Cybersecurity BS program, Certificate programs, and projected Online Cyber Operations MS program. Parallel with the operations of these programs I am involved in nurturing network relationships with local community colleges, international educational facilities, and numerous governmental, professional and academic organizations and agencies.
I am involved in grant participation, collaboration, and mentoring of research students at the undergraduate and graduate levels at KSU within CS. In addition to my specialties delineated above I am also interested in Training Materials, Methods, and Evaluations; Creative Problem Solving; Psycho-educational Assessments; Analysis and Design of Educational and Instructional Systems; Theories of Learning; and Curriculum Articulation, Teaching, Technology, Renewal, and Program Development.
I am from Appalachia, and would have been labeled an At-risk, First-time, Under-prepared college student, with the addition of Non-traditional. I paralleled quite a few of the labels we see in the typical college/university student we see in our classrooms today and I believe that aids me in bringing my ideas, concepts, philosophies and experiences to my students. I have many years experience in IT industry as a corporation owner, a holder of 40+ IT hardware and software certifications, and an author of books for my students relative to topics in nurturing retention, cybersecurity, freshman success, innovativeness, phenomenology and national border safety.
