Dr. Sherif Rashad is a Full Professor of Computer Science and the Coordinator of the Computer Science program at Morehead State University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Louisville and his B.Sc. (with honors) and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Zagazig University, Egypt. He is the inaugural recipient of Rebecca L. and Henry P. Conn Endowed Fellowship from Speed School of Engineering, University of Louisville. He worked as an Associate Professor at Florida Polytechnic University and the University of Southern Indiana. He is currently the coordinator of the Computer Science program at Morehead State University and he was the Chair of the Computer Science Program Committee. His leadership experience includes serving as an Academic Program Coordinator of the Computer Engineering program and as a member of the Provost’s Council of Coordinators at Florida Polytechnic University. Dr. Rashad’s research interests include machine learning, mobile security, mobile computing, data science, and cybersecurity. He received several research awards and his research papers have been published in many international journals and IEEE conferences. He served as a member of the editorial board of several international journals and as a member of the technical program committee of several international and national conferences. He is the recipient of the 2023 Dean’s Citation for Sustained Excellence Award, the 2021 Dean’s Citation for Excellence in Research/Scholarship Award, and the 2020 Dean’s Citation for Excellence in Teaching Award. He is a three-time recipient of the Outstanding Research Award (2012, 2014, and 2015) and the 2009 recipient of the Outstanding Teaching Award from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Morehead State University. Dr. Rashad has a strong experience in curriculum development, program accreditation, and developing new programs. He led the effort to introduce new tracks in the computer science program and to introduce several new courses. He is a 2019 Fellow of the Bluegrass Higher Education Consortium Academic Leadership Academy and he is currently serving as the campus liaison. He is a senior member of IEEE and a professional member of ACM.
